Why the Program is Unique

Exploring History is unique for four reasons:

1. It engages students in simulation
2. It offers differentiation of instruction
3. It exposes students to multiple perspectives
4. It supports literacy across the content areas

Simulations Like No Other Program

The program makes history come alive because of its engaging and hands-on materials and content. Students get a multi-dimensional view of each subject because the program includes such materials as student handbooks, 100 rubrics, overhead transparencies, a multi- media CD, cards, maps, and more! Exploring History has a lasting effect and the experience for both teachers and students is unmatched.

A Differentiated Program that Maximizes Student Involvement

"Differentiated" means that Exploring History can be simultaneously taught to and absorbed by a culturally and academically heterogeneous classroom while instruction remains constant and at a high standard. This is made possible because the program includes two separate handbooks for each lesson. One handbook is written at the intermediate level; the other at a higher level to challenge the young intellect. Exploring History maximizes student participation/involvement and interactivity because there is an "instant appeal" for ALL students, even those of different races, cultures, ethnic groups and academic levels.

Exploring History teaches students to consider multiple perspectives; an invaluable long term problem-solving skill that favors/encourages an equitable and fair resolution.

Increasing Literacy Across the Content Areas

The major goal of the program is to stimulate students to talk content in a meaningful way. Exploring History encourages literacy in the social studies or humanities classroom. It fosters the student's ability to read for meaning, write for a purpose, speak persuasively, and use active listening during simulation and interactive learning.
